About Best of Siem Reap

Best of Siem Reap is an independent guide to Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor — written like advice from a friend who has done the 4:30am sunrise run more times than is sensible.

What we do

We maintain curated listings of the temples, restaurants, attractions, hotels, and shops we genuinely rate, plus in-depth guides covering everything a Siem Reap trip actually involves: how the Angkor Pass works, how to time a sunrise, how to structure your days, and how to spend your money where it does good.

How we choose recommendations

  • Editorial first. Listings and rankings are chosen on merit. Many of the things we recommend hardest — the temples, the museums, the markets — earn us nothing.
  • No invented numbers. Ratings and review counts shown on the site come from Google and Viator data, never from us. Where we can’t verify something, we say so or leave it out.
  • Honest ethics calls. We tell you to skip orphanage tourism, scam-prone boat docks, and anything elephant-backed — and we explain why, with better alternatives.

How the site makes money

Some links are affiliate links to Viator (tours) and Booking.com (hotels). If you book through them we may earn a commission at no cost to you. It never affects what we recommend — the full detail is in our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Prices, hours, and rules change — especially in a destination growing this fast. If something here is out of date, we want to know and we’ll fix it. The site is actively maintained and dated guides are reviewed against current sources.
